MATCH DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

COVERS – HOME SIDE

For games in the MCA (Turf teams – Burnley 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th X1s) there is sometimes a requirement to both lay and remove covers at times of inclement or potential inclement weather.

It is the responsibility of ALL players in the relevant affected side to ensure they are available to both lay and remove covers. This is a difficult task if only one or two team members show up to do it but it is extremely efficient and happens quickly when the full team is present to play their role.

ARRIVAL AT GAMES FOR THE MATCH

Your team captain will advise you every week what time he expects you to arrive to properly prepare and assist with pre-match organisation.

Game day doesn’t just involve showing up 5 minutes before the start of the game.

Playing gear needs to be set out, afternoon tea arrangements made, drinks mixed, boundaries laid, scorers organised, umpires and stumps arranged.

This together with any normal warm up and match planning and discussion points the captain may want to make usually means players should be prepared to arrive at their games 30 – 60 minutes prior to the scheduled start.

Similarly at the end of the game it is always appreciated when team members can help the captain out by packing up gear, tidying up the general surrounds and assist in finalising all scorebook matters and relevant paperwork.

AFTER THE MATCH - BACK TO THE CLUB ROOMS

As part of playing your role as a loyal member of the Burnley Cricket Club it helps the club if you make every effort to come back to the Burnley Club Rooms after each day of play.

The rooms will always be open and available to serve food and drink to club members, supporters and opposition players every Saturday and Sunday evening.

Part of being a Burnley member includes the social aspect of the club as this instills a sense of loyalty and belonging within the structure of the club.

It also helps with the survival and success of the club if people are back at the rooms regularly and utilising the excellent facilities we have at our disposal.

Every dollar you spend at the club bar helps us keep the general cost of running the club down and assists us with providing funds for equipment and improved facilities for all members.
