Michael Chaffey Medal

On March 24th 1999, the Burnley CYMS Cricket Club lost one of its most dedicated members. Over his time at the club off the field, Michael put his heart and soul into the club. He was a member of the club’s executive as well being the club’s delegate to the association.

On the field he was fantastic either with his thoughtful leg spin bowling or gritty batting. During his time with us Michael won games with bat and ball and even with his disabilities he took catches in the gully that better credential players would be envious of. Michael loved the club and he could always be seen sitting up on the hill near the Fletcher Oval. The Executive decided to honour Michael on a seasonal basis and will present “The Michael Chaffey Medal” to the best Burnley player judged by the captain in the match against Gunbower United.
